I have recently taken domperidone, and it really worked really well,,,, but ,,it did make me put on a few kg and increased my appetite. So I came off it. The nausea has come back, but not nearly as bad so far, and am slowly loosling the weight?? Hard decision? I hate the thought of it coming back as bad as it was, it is so debilitating, it totally controls your day.Good luck :)

I take domperidone and have been for years. I didn't think it was making any difference until I ran out of it one long holiday weekend and spent 3 miserable days before I was able to get more. As far as I have experienced it doesn't make any difference to my weight. Sometimes I get hungry and want more to eat but I manage (goody two shoes me!!) to resist eating anything with too many calories.

I took domperidone for a few years but suddenly found I didn`t need it. One of these odd things that happen with PBC. It didn`t make me put on any weight. If I have the odd tummy upset now I take gaviscon which does the trick.

I found its a bit like when you are pregnant - eat a biscuit or something high energy (I get a Graze box once a week) and that will help. Best not to leave your stomach completely empty.

Thanks everyone for the tips, it's exactly like morning sickness but all day and I do find eating something savoury helps, I tried motilium which helped but worry that taking too much might have adverse effects on the liver, but I will take it when really needed, thanks again this site is really helpful and it's great to get feedback from fellow PBCers ??

sfitz. Same here. Feels just like morning sickness. Moving around a lot or eating a few biscuits or crackers seems to do the trick.

Hi sfitz,

I have been prescribed since the start of my PBC 11 years ago, with lanzoprozole, I have to take it every day, when and if the feeling sick returns usually by the evening or at night, I've been told to take some gaviscon, and that does help. ask your doctor to prescribe you.some.

Hi Sfitz I have ongoing scripts for Phenergan and Zofran both of which help greatly but the phenergan does make me pretty drowsie the zofran not much at all . Just another bothersome thing that the PBC gives us all . Hope you find relief soon .

I take Domperidone prescribed by my GP, nausea is better but not gone completely, and I still have days when I'm physically sick. I've next to no appetite and do not eat much and my GP has also prescribed me ensure plus nutritional shakes to ensure I get all the nutrients I need daily.

Seriously Cannabis has incredible anti-nausea capabilities plus it greatly enhances appetite. Just saying.

Yes, seems so from what i've heard. Glad it's been of some help, and could be a welcome alternative to taking prescribed meds for many years.

Cannabis oil (which doesn't involve smoking and has no euphoric effects) has been proven to help and even cure many illnesses, the latest one discovered is Parkinsons.

There have been no reported incidents relating to cancer due to the use of cannabis oil. It's sold legally in many countries, and can be freely purchased on the internet. The UK is considering it as an NHS medication.

Of course, it can be smoked. It's all a matter of individual choice i suppose.

Absolutely we all have our opinions when it comes to Marijuana as a form of treatment but I agree Cannabis oil is a miracle drug! There are many more government approved products out there that pose a greater risk of Cancer, it’s literally in the foods we eat.

cancer.org/treatment/treatm...

This is directly from cancer.org stating the use of Cannabis oil and Marijuana in the treatment of cancer. It’s important to do research and educate ourselves as much as possible on new treatments available. I work on an Oncology unit in a Hospital and also have a daughter with Epilepsy so I have had my fair share of education when it comes to Cannabis oil. Marijuana and Cannabis oil are still very new a just making their way as new treatment options. Here in Canada Marijuana will be legal by the summer and we already have hundreds of dispensary’s all over

the country. Knowledge is the greatest gift we can give to ourselves😊

This is not to come off as an attack just a friendly reminder that the times are changing and the advances in medicine are amazing. Marijuana has some seriously negative stereotypes which makes if difficult to see as beneficial rather than harmful.

Yes actually called CBD oil. Works well. I find Cannabis oil with THC is even better. I would recommend to everyone, If legal in your country or state, to obtain your Medical Cannibis Card.

This is interesting I suffer from nausea but did not know it was caused by the pbc, I have a good diet so I wasn't sure why i felt it.

TracyLou. Me too. I didn't initially connect the two, having been symptom free for many years.

I gave up wheat in the end, my nausea went away. I have since found out that I have a chromosome disorder, which I passed onto my son. My son has definitely a wheat intolerance.

Thanks TracyLou. I went GF for some time, and it made no difference. PBC is complex, and i feel we all just keep trying to find out what works best on an individual basis.
